We had a good turnout this month (Jan 2014) and everyone was really chatty so ran longer than usual.

I thought you might like to post Api's letter on our web site. Tom S.

(I wrote Api to ask if it was alright to share her Christmas letter and she sent a little note to the class as well. Kathy Z.  From Api:  Many greetings to the dear Molalla class ... Your  Api)

Apollonia's Christmas Letter

Could you post this PDF to the class of 62 website, Please? (Click here to see the premier issue of the War Whoop 62!)

We are going to try to put out a newsletter to the class twice a year, just to keep everyone up to speed on what everyone is doing. Hope you have a great Christmas.
Tom S.

Hey, gang, it's 2014! We've made it another year. And our January dinner at the Bomber is approaching. Save the night of January 16 at 5:30- 6:00 and we'll see you there. I know the weather is being cantankerous and the nights are early this time of year but it's fun to gather and tell lies about the good old days in '62.   So try to come and let Sharon (SharonSanders@molalla-alumni.org) know if you think you be there.

Hope to see you at the Bomber!

Kathy

We’ve got our November dinner coming up on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5:30-6:00 at the Bomber.  This will be the last one this year as we will take off Dec. and meet again in January.  Hope we have a good turnout to end the year!

If you can’t be with us this Thursday, have a Wonderful Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas and a super Happy New Year!!!!!

Yours, Kathy

I’m sending on a letter from Sharon Sanders that came yesterday.  She said I could pass it on.  Good news is always welcome!  Hope a whole bunch from ‘62  can come to the Bomber on the 17th.  And don’t forget to write a bit to Tom Sanders (tsanders1943@gmail.com) for the newsletter.  He only has two items so far.

Kathy

We had a good turnout at the Bomber last night- 18 people!

Tom Sanders had a great idea and the best part is that he is doing all the work!  He is willing to compile an email newsletter if we will supply him with news.  If every one would just write a paragraph or so about what’s been happening in their lives recently (Judy Traister, send a picture of your "new" car, Api, when are you coming to visit? etc.....)  Let’s flood Tom with news!!!!  His address is tsanders1943@gmail.com .

Hope to see you all in October!  Kathy

Here it is September already!  Remember back when we were in school, how it hurled itself at us before we were ready?  Seems like it is doing it again.  We are planning on having dinner again at the Bomber on the 19th at 5:30-6:00.

Once again, Sharon would appreciate knowing if we are coming to the dinner.  Her email is sasanders1944@gmail.com

Hope to see you there!  Kathy

Just a reminder that we are gathering this month at Sweet Tomatoes near the Clackamas Town Center on the 8th at 5:30 PM.  Bob and Karen Crisp are in the area and it sounded like fun to try another restaurant with them.  That will be it for August and then in September we’ll be back at the Bomber.  If you are planning to come, Sharon would appreciate a note  (sasanders1944@gmail.com).  Hope we can get a great turnout this month!

Kathy

In honor of Bob Crisp and his wife Karen being in the area in early August, we are going to be doing things a little differently.  We will be gathering on Aug. 8 at 5:30 at Sweet Tomatoes near Clackamas Town Center (across the street from Cosco).  It is easy to get to and has great food. There will be no dinner on the third Thursday but we will gather at the Bomber again in September. Sharon is once again asking that we contact her so she will know how many are going to come.  That’s sasanders1944@gmail.com or call her.  It’ll be fun to see Bob (Crispie) again.

Stay cool!  Kathy

Hi, everyone!  The summer has gotten to me and I forgot this is the week for our dinner.  Sorry, as I did promise a reminder.  We are still planning to gather at the Bomber on the 18th at 5:30-6:00 PM.  Please give either Sharon (sasanders1944@gmail.com) or me a line to let us know you might be coming.

Have a great Summer!  Kathy

Bob will be here in August and we could get together with him 8/1 or 8/2 or 8/8 or 8/9.
We were hoping to get together with some of the class members.  Could we send out a email to see if there is any interest and when or which day might be best for those interested?

Thanks,

Sharon

Here you go , Sharon.  You said it as good as I can.  Let Sharon know what your ideas may be- sasanders1944@gmail.com .  We could move our July dinner to the first part of August, or have an early August dinner, or a picnic?  It would be great to see Bob again!  See you, Kathy

Hi, Class of 1962!

Tom Sanders has a great idea for the Fourth!  He suggested that everyone in the area might enjoy gathering to watch the parade together.  So, we’ll find each other in the Bi-Mart parking lot or along the street in front of it.  The Parade starts at 9:30 but won’t make it to Bi-Mart for at least 20 minutes.  However, to be allowed into the parking lot, you’ll need to be there earlier-perhaps by 9:00.  I don’t know when they shut the street for the parade.  Hope to see you there!  (I’ll be on the Royals’ wagon, pulled by the biggest black Percherons you’ve ever seen, and will be expecting to wave at a whole bunch of '62ers.)

Happy Fourth of July!  Kathy

We had a decent turnout last night and decided to do it again on July 18.  We’ll hope for a big turn out then.  Remember, if you aren’t there, we get to talk about you!

Hope to see you all in July!  Kathy

Well, Gang, next week includes the third Thursday of June.  We are scheduled for dinner at the Bomber again, the 20th at 5:30-6:00.  Hope we can have a good turnout again.  It seems that we get a different batch of classmates at each gathering., but there are always enough to get a good visit.  Hope you can join us.  As always, it would be appreciated if you could let either Sharon- sasanders1944@gmail.com  or me know if you plan to be there.

See you there I hope, Kathy

We had a good turnout last night and intend to do it again in June.  Be sure and put June 20 on your calendar for the Bomber.  There wasn’t enough interest in the '62 pickup to try to get it going so that idea has died.

Tom has asked that I pass on his apologies for all our email addresses getting letters from Johannesburg requesting money for his cousin who has been diagnosed with blood, and he and or she needs surgery but may already be died.  It was worth getting the letter, Tom, just for a good laugh.  Sorry you got hacked and hope no one believed your “need” for funds.

I’ll send out another reminder closer to our next dinner and hope a whole bunch of us can take vacations around that time.

Hope to see you then!  Kathy

Just a short note as a reminder that the Class of '62 is invading the Bomber again on Thursday, May 16 at 5:30-6:00.    Sharon( sasanders1944@gmail.com ) would once again appreciate knowing if you are planning to come. We’ll hope to see you there!  Kathy

Well, Gang, it’s May!  We are planning to do another Bomber Dinner on Thursday, May 16 at 5:30-6:00.  It’s been awhile so everyone should be getting hungry!

Tom Sanders sent the following bit for your contemplation:

I have found a 1962 one ton Chevy flatbed that we have discussed getting and setting up for the Buckaroo  parade this year, and for future events like that, needs a paint job and some work, plus a place to keep it, maybe the high school, anyway  add it into an email to see if people would be interested, and we can discuss it at the dinner in May.

Anyone so excited that he can’t wait till the dinner, or won’t be able to come, contact Tom at tsande43@hotmail.com .  Remember this is Molalla’s Centennial.

And once again, if you plan to come, Sharon would like to hear from you at sasanders1944@gmail.com  or reply to me.

We’ll hope to see you there!  Kathy

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are not doing a dinner at the Diner this month.  Instead we are encouraging everyone to come to the All School Reunion Luncheon on April 27.  Registration is at noon and the lunch at 1:00 in the MUHS Commons.  It would be fun to have a good sized group representing 1962!

We’ll try to do another dinner at the Bomber on May 16.  I’ll try to remember to send out a reminder a little closer to that date.(Don’t you just love getting older?)

Richard is still in great spirits and back to doing chemo.  The man is amazing!

Hope to see you at the Reunion Luncheon on the 27th.  Kathy

Tom Daniels has suggested that we skip April and concentrate on attending the All School Reunion instead. The particulars are:

Date: Saturday April 27, 2013
Time: 12:00 noon: Registration
1:00 PM: Lunch

Location: Molalla High School Commons
357 Francis Street
Molalla, OR 97038

We can decide about April and future dinners on March 21 at the Bomber.  Remember we gather at 5:30 to 6:00 to stuff ourselves and get in a good visit with people who have meant a lot for a lot of years.

Hope to see you there!  Kathy

Hi, Gang!

We are creeping up on the third Thursday of the month again!  Sharon would appreciate a note as to whether you are considering coming or not.  She lets the Bomber know how many to expect.  Her email is sasanders1944@gmail.com .  We had a good turnout last month so let’s hope we can get as many this month.

Just a short note to let everyone know we are going to plan on meeting again on March 21 at the Bomber.  We had a good turnout Thurs. night

I’ll send a reminder again before the next dinner.

Hope to see you there!  Kathy

I’m just reminding everyone that we’re going to be invading the Bomber again on the 21st of Feb., just a week away.  It is such fun to see faces again that we knew so well 50+ years ago!  I hope we see a lot of you next week.  If you think you’ll be coming, once again, please drop a note to Sharon or me.  We need to warn the Bomber.  Hope to see you next week!  Kathy

Where did January go???  Thought maybe I should remind everyone about the third Thursday in Feb.

We will meet again at the Bomber on Feb.21 at 5:30 to 6:00 PM.  Their back room gives us a lot of privacy and we don’t disturb their other patrons.  As if we could get loud at our age!  The January dinner brought out 18 hardy souls, even with the flu taking its toll.

Once again, if you think you’ll be coming to the Bomber this month, a note to Sharon (sasanders1944@gmail.com) or me would be appreciated.

Hope to see you there!  Kathy

Hi, Classmates! What has happened to 2013 already? Here it is a week into January and I for one am not ready for a new year! But then I wasn't ready for the new millennium, either.

Anyway, I'm sending this to remind everyone that we are starting up the dinners again. Once again it is at the "Bombe" in Milwaukie on January 17 at 5:30 PM. We'll hope for a big turnout and would ask that if you think you can make it, please drop Sharon (sasanders1944@gmail.com) a note. The Bomber likes to have a idea as to how many to expect.

We'll probably be discussing whether to continue to have the dinners once a month or perhaps every two months and if we want to try different restaurants. And if you aren't there, we might discuss YOU. If you run into one of our classmates who doesn't have email please let him know about the dinners. The more the merrier (or noisier, or more forgetful, or more senile, or whatever)!

See you there (hopefully), Kathy

Hi, Classmates, Just wanted to update everyone on the "dinner dates" we have started.

The one last Thursday drew about 14-16 people. I missed it with a sick spouse but Sharon said they had a great time. With the holidays approaching, it was decided to hold off on future dinners until January. We will plan on the Bomber again but if anyone has a great idea for a different restaurant, just let Sharon or me know. It might be fun to travel around and try out other venues. What do you think? (Sorry, Api, but Reichenberg is probably out of our range!) . We are still drawing classmates from distances. This time Judy and Dick Traister came from Centervile, WA. and once again, Ron McFadden travelled from Newport.

Our next dinner will be January 17, 2013 at the Bomber, 5:30-6:00 PM. Hope to see you there! Have a yummy Thanksgiving, a delightful Christmas and an unhungover New Year's. Kathy Zeek (Oct 24, 2012)

Dear Classmates, Just a reminder that we are doing it again. The Bomber survived us last month so we will meet there at 5:30-6:00 on Oct.18. If you think you will be able to join us, could you drop Sharon (sasanders1944@gmail.com ) a note so the Bomber will have an idea as to how many of us to expect? A reply to me won't do any good as I am off to get my granddaughter fix in Albuquerque tomorrow and will just make it home in time for the dinner. Thank you much and we'll be looking forward to seeing as many as possible! Kathy   (Oct 10, 2012)

Hi, Classmates! We missed you if you weren't at the Bomber last Thursday. The consensus seemed to be that it is a successful place to have our dinners, at least until a better one is suggested. We had 19 people (if I can still count without a calculator), and enjoyed the camaraderie and food (when it finally came). I should mention that the waitress waited until we were all there to take orders and there was only one cook. Next time, we should start ordering as we arrive so the poor cook isn't overwhelmed. Barb Marquam and her husband joined us and Ron McFadden came from clear down at Lincoln City again. Tom Daniels was up from California. It's fun to see how we all have changed (DO NOT read that as aged)!

Any suggestions about venue or date will be appreciated. We are planning to meet at the Bomber again on Thursday October 18. at 5:30- 6:00 PM in the back room. And we will hope to overwhelm the cook again with even more classmates next time! See you, Kathy  (September 24, 2012)

Here we go again! We are going to give the Bomber a try. It has a room we can meet in without having to compete with all the rest of the customers. For those of you who don't remember so well anymore, the Bomber is at 13515 SE McLaughlin in Milwaukie. The dinner is set for 5:30 to 6:00 on September 20, 2012.

If you can come, would you please drop an email to Sharon ssanders1944@gmail.com . She would like to call the Bomber to let them know approximately how many to expect. We had a lot of fun at the last dinner, even with the rather inconvenient seating. So, we hope to see even more at this one.

See you then, Kathy (September 5, 2012)

August 24, 2012:  We had our first monthly dinner last night and wish you all could have been there. We had 17 total , including spouses, and had a good visit. The only trouble was that Elmer's in Woodburn has good food but does not have a meeting room and that left us visiting at several tables. Classmates present were: Richard Reasoner, Sharon Johnson (I'm sticking with maiden names), Tom Sanders, Ron McFadden, Bob Hall, Delores Adams, MaryLee Bjerkan, Dave McMullen, Bob Miller, Tom Hoggard, Bert St.Clair, and me, Kathy Magill.

We are going to do it again Sept. 20, Thursday night again. We haven't decided on a restaurant but I will get back to you as soon as we find one with a meeting room and reasonable food.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible next month, Kathy

Hi, to all, I'm sending out a message to all the '62 grads for which I have email addresses.

The planning for and the reunion itself were such fun that someone suggested we should get together more often. Evidently some of the other classes already do this, meeting for lunch or dinner once a month.

At our "Wrap-up" meeting on Wednesday the reunion committee decided to give it a try, too. The fourth Thursday of every month sounded good. We decided to make our first dinner at Elmer's in Woodburn (by the outlet stores) on Thursday, August. 23 at 5:30-6:00 PM. It seemed like a lot of our alums have left town and Woodburn is sort of equidistant from Portland, Salem and Molalla and has easy access to I-5.

I realize that a lot of you live too far away to come to these dinners on a regular basis but maybe if you are just returning for a family gathering and find yourself in the area on the 4th Thursday, it might be something to keep in mind. We could use input on whether the day is good, the restaurant is right, the town is OK, etc. Maybe we'll get a crowd and maybe no one will come...who knows? Come if you can and we'll take it from there. Or just email me with ideas.

For everyone's information, there were 53 class members at the reunion. What a turnout! I'd rather we didn't wait another 50 years to see each other. Put Aug. 23 on the calendar! Hope to see you there. Here's to '62!

We all had a great time at our 50th reunion on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Farmstead Restaurant & Pub at Arrowhead Golf Club. Sometimes it took a while to find that young face of years ago in the more mature face of today, but as we got to talking, the personality of more youthful times was still there.  (Linda Norquist Reeder)
